Community Health Education
The Community Health Education Department is dedicated to improving the health and well being of the community, as well as the prevention and early detection of disease among people living and working in Mercer and Bucks counties. The services we provide include:
- Health Education Program Series
Program topics vary and include cancer and stroke prevention, diabetes, nutrition, heart disease, and wellness lectures that include alternative therapies such as stress management. Most of our programs are free of charge.
- Speaker’s Bureau
Have one of our health care professionals come to your congregation, civic organization, business, school or group to speak on a health-related topic of your choice. Call ext. 4512 for more information.
- Health Fair Services
Let a Capital Health healthcare professional participate in your organization’s next health fair. Services include performing various health screenings such as blood pressure, body fat analysis, cholesterol, blood glucose, lung function, bone density, carotid artery, and body mass index. Childbirth & Parent Education Programs
Our Childbirth and Parent Education programs can teach you everything you need to know about the process of birth and exactly what to do to care for your infant. For information, call 609-303-4140.
Lactation Center
Staffed by board certified lactation consultants, get information on breastfeeding classes as well as telephone and outpatient breastfeeding support. Call 609-303-4163.
CPR and First-Aid Classes
CPR classes, first-aid classes and other topics in emergency care are available from the EMS Education Center. To set up a class for your group, church, or neighborhood association, or for more information, call 609-815-7291.
Injury Prevention Classes
The Bristol Myers Squibb Trauma Center at Capital Health Regional Medical Center offers the following free programs: Preschool to Grade 2 Pedestrian Safety, Grades 2 – 5 Bicycle Safety, Prom Night Talk for High School Juniors and Seniors, Proper Use of Child Safety Seats and Seatbelts for all ages, and Home Safety for Senior Citizens.
